Pity The Child

"This isn't good Addy," Sammy whispered to him.

Adam shook his head and sighed, putting his head in his hands afterwards.

Kiara came back after a few minutes and stood in the doorway. "Adam, could I talk to you out here for a minute?"

Adam looked up, pulling a face. He nodded and kissed Sammy's cheek before getting up to talk to Kiara.

Kiara stood out in the hall and waited.

Adam walked out of the room, frowning as he leaned against the wall.

"It's not as bad as you think," said Kiara. "Not the best, but not the worst."

"What is it...?" Adam asked quietly.

"Appendicitis," said Kiara

Adam swore quietly, shaking his head. "One thing after another..." He mumbled.

"I already called OR, we need to get Sammy moved and get Lennon ready."

"Wait...why does she have to be moved?" Adam asked.

"We can't take him down to OR with her on the bed too Adam," said KIara.

"Oh, right." Adam said, rolling his eyes. "He's not going to like that..."

Kiara sighed. "I know."

Adam swore again, running a hand through his hair.

"He won't be under for long, maybe an hour at the longest." said Kiara.

Adam nodded slowly, looking down at the floor.

"He'll be alright, I promise," said Kiara. "Can you handle explaining things to him while I go make sure they're ready for him?"

"Um...maybe..." Adam said quietly, frowning.

"It'll be fine, he'll take it better this way," said Kiara.

"I doubt it..." Adam sighed. "He's already been through so much..."

"Which is why he needs to hear it from someone he trusts," said Kiara

"Only one I'm 100% sure he trusts is his brother..." Adam mumbled.

"You can't expect a seven year old to do this Adam," said Kiara
