Pity The Child

"Not by me anyway...or that first doctor..." Adam said, sitting on his chair.

"Ditzy woman," said Sammy.

"Just a little..." Adam said, rolling his eyes.

Sammy yawned softly. "Just a little...."

Adam smiled, moving his chair closer so he was sitting right beside the bed. He reached a hand out to touch Sammy's cheek.

Sammy smiled. "The faraway land of hospital chair's not so far away anymore."

"Nope," Adam smiled. "It moved."

"Good, I would be awful lonely without you," said Sammy.

"Me too..." Adam smirked.

Sammy smiled, stroking Lennon's hair. She slipped a hand to his forehead. "He barely has a fever anymore."

"Well that's always good." Adam smiled.

"I just hate that he's gonna be stuck here because I'm not better yet," Sammy said.

"It's not your fault..." Adam said softly.

I know....but he hates it here," Sammy sighed.

"I'm sure we would too if someone who's meant to care just left us at a hospital alone..." Adam sighed.

"I know how it feels," Sammy said softly, almost in a whisper.

Adam frowned, standing up to wrap his arms around Sammy.

Sammy rested in Adam's arm, coughing into his chest.

Adam frowned slightly, gently patting Sammy's back.

"Not as bad as it was before," Sammy said, glancing up at him. "Chest doesn't feel quite so heavy."

"Good." Adam said, relaxing.

Sammy smiled. "Immune system isn't totally down yet, still got some fight left."

"You sure that's not just stubborness?" Adam teased.

Sammy chuckled. "Maybe."

"A bit of both maybe..." Adam said, smiling.
