A Family Affair

Sammy smiled, watching as Aida closed the door.

Adam whimpered quietly, moving closer to Sammy.

"Shhhh, it's alright, sweetie, it's alright," said Sammy. "Why don't you tell the nice doctor what's the matter, hm?"

"I feel sick." Adam mumbled, being difficult.

"Adam," said Sammy. "C'mon now...."

"Stomach hurts..." Adam muttered.

"That all?" Aida asked, a small smile on her face.

Adam shook his head. "No..."

"What else?" Aida asked.

"Throat hurts..." Adam mumbled, pouting.

"Anything else?" Aida asked gently.

Adam shrugged, looking down as he coughed.

"How long you been coughin' like that?" Aida asked, a soft accent much like her mother's.

"I dunno..."Adam mumbled, smiling when he noticed the similarity.

Aida nodded, moving over to Adam with the toy thermometer in her hand. "Open up."

Adam shook his head, moving closer to Sammy again.

"You'll never get better if you don't let the doctor help..." Lennon said.

"It's okay sweetie," said Sammy gently.

Adam sighed before kneeling so Aida could reach his mouth, opening it like she'd said.

Aida gently placed the toy thermometer in Adam's mouth.

Adam accidentally broke character for a second, smiling at Aida, unable to help himself.

Aida smiled back at him.

Adam mouthed the words 'love you' before closing his mouth, pouting as he waited for her to say the thermometer's done reading his temperature.

Aida giggled softly at Adam's pout, twisting thee top of the thermometer so the tiny drum in the center would roll to the fever side.

Adam sat down, folding his arms as he waited, still pouting.

"Adam, sweetie," said Sammy. "Stop that."
