A Family Affair

Adam made an irritated sound, much like the one Monte often made at people, unable to talk with the thermometer in his mouth.

Aida giggled again, before reaching up to take the thermometer.

Adam sighed in relief when Aida took it and looked up at Sammy.

Sammy kissed Adam's forehead.

Adam smiled, then looked back at Aida, nervous again.

"Don't be scared," said Aida with a gentle smile.

Adam gave a small smile back, relaxing a little.

Aida went back to her tiny work table, pretending to write down things in her notepad.

Adam looked up at Monte, frowning again.

Monte hugged Adam. "It's okay."

Adam sighed and hugged Monte back.

Aida came back over to Adam, carrying he stethoscope with her.

Adam slowly looked at her, still hugging Monte.

Aida smiled softy at Adam.

Adam smiled back as he let go of Monte, turning back to face Aida.

"Just gonna listen okay?" asked Aida. "Won't hurt."

"Kay..." Adam said, nodding.

Aida smiled, holding the end of the stethoscope to Adam's chest. "Deep breaths sweetie," said Sammy, watching Adam and Aida.

Adam nodded and took deep breaths as he was told to.

Aida pretended to listen for a minute or two, before moving away from Adam.

Adam faked a cough once Aida had moved away and pouted again.

Aida moved back over to her table.

Adam watched quietly, glancing around at the others.

Monte smiled at Adam.

Adam smiled back, jumping slightly when Lennon came up behind him and hugged him.
