Pity The Child

"Oh yeah..." Adam said, having forgotten.

"Sleep baby, you need it, I'll keep an eye on the boys," said Sammy.

"I'm fine..." Adam said stubbornly.

"Adam...." Sammy sighed.

"Alright, alright..." Adam sighed. "But there's no room to sleep..."

"You slept just fine before," said Sammy.

"I know..." Adam said, laying his head on Sammy's shoulder.

Sammy ran a hand through Adam's hair. "Love you."

"Love you too." Adam said quietly, already starting to drift off.

Sammy smiled, closing her eyes.

Adam shifted slightly, trying to get comfortable.

Sammy drifted off.

Adam fell asleep a few minutes later after stubbornly trying not too.

Monte shifted in his sleep.

Adam wrapped an arm around Monte, pulling him closer.

Monte only shifted again, the images in his mind convincing him that the arms around him were trying to hurt him. He whimpered and whined softly.

Adam jumped awake, quickly letting Monte go. He gently ran a hand through Monte's hair, trying to calm him.

Monte continued the whimper and whine. "N-No.......mommy please........m-mommy please no...." Only one person in that room could settle him down.

"Monte...?" Adam said, gently shaking his shoulder, trying to wake him up.

Leenon stirred in his sleep, hearing his brother.

Monte jerked away from Adam's hand. "I-I didn't do it.......mommy I d-didn't..."

"Damn it..." Adam mumbled, sighing.

Lennon woke up, moving to hug his brother. "Monte, it's me." He said softly, close to Monte's ear.

Monte woke up nearly instantly when he heard Lennon's voice. "Don't let her get me Len," he whimpered. "I didn't do anything, I promise I didn't...."

"It's ok, we aren't there Monte." Lennon said softly, holding him close. "We're safe here."

Monte nodded slowly. "C-Can I stay with you?"

Lennon smiled and nodded, laying back down with his head in Sammy's lap, gently pulling Monte with him.
