Pity The Child

"What about medicine?" Adam asked him.

Monte sighed softly. "Okay...."

"Well you have to get better somehow." Adam chuckled, shaking his head.

Monte stuck his tongue out at Adam.

Adam rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out back.

Sammy chuckled and shook her head. "I'm going to marry a giant five year old....."

"Na-uh..." Adam said, pouting. "I'm not five. If you're going to accuse me of something like that, at least say I'm seven and a half, like Monte..."

Sammy just shook her head. Monte laughed softly. "Silly daddy..."

Adam smirked at Sammy, then kissed Monte's head.

Lennon smiled at them, curling up next Sammy again.

Monte smiled, curling close to Adam. Sammy smiled, holding Lennon close.

Adam gently lifted Monte onto his lap, hugging him.

Lennon yawned and laid his head on Sammy.

"Sleep sweetie," Sammy said gently. "We'll all be here when you wake up."

"Really?" Lennon asked, yawning again.

"Promise," said Sammy, kissing the top of Lennon's head. "Love you sweetie."

"Love you mama..." Lennon mumbled. "And dad and Monte..."

Monte smiled. "Love you too Len."

Lennon smiled at his brother before laying down, his head in Sammy's lap.

Sammy stroked Lennon's hair.

Lennon quickly fell asleep, more tired than he had shown. After a few minutes, he started whimpering.

Sammy stroked his hair, hoping he would settle.

Lennon curled up tight, still whimpering. "No mama...don't hurt me..." He mumbled.

Sammy shook Lennon's shoulder gently. "Lennon, Lennon sweetie, wake up."

Lennon whimpered again before waking up. "You...told me to sleep..." Lennon mumbled.

"You were having a nightmare," said Sammy softly, stroking his hair.

"I do lots of times..." Lennon said quietly.

Adam frowned as he listened.
