Pity The Child

Monte nodded. "Uh huh.....you?"

"A little..." Lennon said, hugging his brother tightly.

"I got scared when you got so sick," said Monte softly.

"I know...but I'm getting better." Lennon told him.

Monte nodded. "Good."

Lennon smiled. "But you gotta get better too...and mama."

Monte nodded. "I'm getting batter Len," said Monte. "We just gotta get momma better."

"I know..." Lennon sighed, looking over at Sammy.

Monte sighed as well. "She got sick fast....."

"I know." Lennon frowned. "It wasn't us was it? I know she said it wasn't but..."

"I....I dunno...." said Monte.

Lennon frowned, staring down at the blankets.

Monte sighed softly, resting his head on his brother's arm.

Lennon smiled slightly, looking up when he heard Adam start snoring.

"Noisy daddy," Monte muttered.

"He sleeps more than us..." Lennon said, rolling his eyes. "And we're sick."

"I know," Monte chuckled. "Lazy."

Lennon nodded and chuckled as well, reaching a hand out to prod Adam.

"Careful," said Monte. "If he moves, it'll wake momma."

"Oh," Lennon said, quickly pulling his hand away. "Right...oops."

Monte nodded. "Momma needs the sleep."

Lennon nodded back. "But dad doesn't...and he said he'd tell us what was wrong with mama."

Monte nodded. "He did....."

"Probably think's we'll forget he said so if he waits long enough." Lennon said, rolling his eyes.

Monte nodded. "He does that a lot."
