Pity The Child

"Yes, a lot like me." Adam said, smiling.

Sammy smiled. "At least they're more like you than her."

"Always good." Adam said. "I'd rather they not be evil..."

Sammy nodded. "Me too."

"No one wants to be like her..." Adam chuckled.

Sammy nodded. "We still have to find the time to tell them," she said with a sigh

"I know..." Adam said slowly, sighing. "When though?"

"Let's wait until we get them taken care of," said Sammy. "We'll tell them once they know they don't have to worry about her anymore."

"Okay." Adam said, nodding.

"We should go check on them," said Sammy.

Adam nodded and moved to head back upstairs.

Sammy quickly followed.

Lennon was tossing and turning in his sleep, whimpering.

Adam quietly opened the bedroom door, frowning when he saw.

Monte was curled up in his bed on the other side of the room, staring at the wall. Sammy walked over to Lennon, carefully sitting down on the edge of the bed and picking him up.

Seeing Sammy go over to Lennon, Adam went and sat on Monte's bed. "What's wrong?" He asked softly.

Lennon curled close to Sammy, groaning as he woke up.

"Can't sleep," Monte mumbled. "Shhhhhh," Sammy soothed softly, holding Lennon close.

"Why not?" Adam asked.

"I'm cold..." Lennon whimpered, reaching a hand down to grab the blanket.

Monte shrugged. "Just can't." "Here," Sammy said gently, wrapping Lennon up in the blanket. "How's that?"

"Little better..." Lennon mumbled.

Adam sighed. "Come here." He said, holding his arms out.

Sammy held Lennon close. "It's gonna be alright sweetie." Monte moved closer to Adam.

Lennon looked away to cough before hugging Sammy tight, burying his face against her shoulder.

Adam slowly put his arms around Monte, pulling him into a hug.

Sammy ran a hand through Lennon's hair, sighing softly as she looked over at Adam. "He's getting worse..."

Adam frowned and sighed. "Do you know how long your brother's been sick for?" He asked Monte.

Monte tried to think back to the day Lennon had told their mother. "Ummmmm, he'd already been sick for a week when I told mommy I was," said Monte. "I think he got sick the Monday before that....."

"So she's left him sick for at least two weeks?" Adam sighed.
