Catch Me, I'm Falling

Gabriel looked at Sammy and opened his mouth.

Sammy smiled, slipping the thermometer into his mouth.

Gabriel closed his mouth, sitting patiently as he waited.

Sammy ran a hand through Gabriel's hair.

Gabriel gave a small smile, moving closer to Sammy.

"Just relax," said Sammy. "I'm gonna take care of you, I promise."

Gabriel nodded, moving to lie on his back beside Sammy, looking up at her.

Sammy smiled, keeping her had in Gabriel's hair.

Gabriel closed his eyes and smiled, relaxing.

Sammy watched the numbers on the thermometer.

Gabriel pulled at one of the sleeves of Adam's coat he still had on, making sure it was still covering him properly.

Sammy looked down at the thermometer again when it beeped, gently pulling it from Gabriel's mouth.

Once Sammy had taken the thermometer, Gabriel rolled onto his side and curled up,wrapping his arms around himself.

Sammy looked at the number, shaking her head.

Gabriel groaned quietly, shifting uncomfortably, rubbing his arm near his wrist.

Sammy sighed softy.

"What...?" Gabriel asked quietly, shifting so he could look up at her.

"I'm worried about you," said Sammy.

"Why...?" Gabriel asked curiously.

"One, you're running a nearly 103 degree fever," said Sammy. "Two, there's more pain in your eyes than you're letting on."

"N-No there isn't..." Gabriel mumbled, quickly shutting his eyes.

"A person's eyes don't lie Gabriel," said Sammy.

Gabriel groaned, putting his hands over his face.

Sammy shook her head. "I swear, you are just like my three."

"How?" Gabriel asked, coughing.
