Pity The Child

"Because you didn't wanna believe it," said Sammy. "You didn't wanna believe that someone you used to love so much could ever hurt the children you made together."

"That doesn't help..." Adam mumbled. "That shows I'd rather sit there telling myself it's all okay..."

"Adam, baby look at me," said Sammy gently.

Adam sniffed before slowly rolling over to look up at her, giving up on hiding the fact that he was crying.

"Adam, honey this is not your fault," said Sammy.

"No, but not doing anything's just as bad..."

"Addy, it's her mindgames," said Sammy. "The same games she played with those boys to keep them quiet she played with you."

"I'm supposed to be smarter..." Adam mumbled.

"Honey, she messed with your head for years," said Sammy.

"I-I know but...." Adam said, wiping his eyes.

"So it's her fault honey," said Sammy. "Okay?"

Adam gave a small nod, slowly sitting up to hug Sammy.

Sammy hugged Adam close.

Adam hugged Sammy tightly, burying his face against her shoulder.

"I'm gonna get you and the boys past this, I promise," said Sammy.

Adam nodded. "I-I know..."

"I love you Adam," said Sammy. "I love you so much."

"I love you too." Adam said, hugging her tighter.

Sammy smiled, pulling away a bit to tilt Adam's chin so he was looking at her, and kiss him gently.

Adam gave a mall smile and kissed Sammy back.

Adam sniffed, sitting up properly after a few seconds to wipe away the rest of his tears.

"Let me," said Sammy, reaching up to wipe away the last of Adam's tears.

Adam smiled, hugging Sammy again.

Sammy hugged Adam back.
