"Like what?" Adam asked.

"She called momma a lot of names, bad ones," said Monte

"Oh," Adam frowned. "What else...?"

"She used to say momma was using you a lot," said Monte. "She said stuff like that, a lot."

"Right." Adam chuckled. "Sammy's using me, when I'm the one that came to Sammy..."

"I called her momma once when mommy asked about her....." said Monte. "I got the ice bath for it."

"What a bitch..." Adam said, shaking his head.

"I think that's how Len got sick," said Monte. "She left him in one overnight....."

Adam sighed and swore. "There's no way you two are ever going back there." He said. "She'll be lucky if she's even allowed to visit you at all once it's all sorted."

Monte nodded. "I need a new inhaler," he said. "Will broke mine."

Adam nodded, not bothering to ask. "I'll get you one later, when Sammy's up."

Monte nodded. "Kay."

"Just try not to stress yourself out over anything..." Adam said.

"Trying," said Monte.

"I know." Adam said, kissing Monte's head.

Monte smiled, resting against Adam.

Adam held Monte close, softly singing one of monte's favourite songs.

Monte curled close again.

Adam smiled and kept singing, hoping it would help Monte relax.

After a while, Monte fell asleep.

Adam stopped when he was sure Monte was asleep and held him close, looking around the room.

Sammy, who had been awake since Monte had asked about her and pretended to sleep, opened her eyes.

Adam was still looking around the room, unaware that she was awake.

Sammy smiled softly. "Addy."

Adam jumped slightly and turned to look at Sammy. "Hey."
