A Family Affair

Sammy smiled as he finished putting Aida's hair up for her. The two of them had spent the afternoon turning their home into Aida's personal hospital. She'd gotten her own doctor's costume, set up the many rooms they need and chosen Adam's symptoms. Now they just had to wait for Adam to come home. He was away doing another afternoon showing of Memphis, Monte was at baseball practice, and Lennon was with his private dance instructor, getting ready for a state competition. This had given the mother daughter pair the entire day to plan out every last detail of what they wanted to do, even down to giving Aida a second patient, if Lennon agreed of course.

Adam yawned as he pulled into the driveway of their home, tired after the show and dealing with the fans. He stretched after getting out of the car then headed to the house, looking confused when he got inside. "Sammy...?" Adam called out, slowly looking around. "Sammy?" He called again after a minute, pouting.

Instead of the Texan born brunette Adam had been calling for, his calls were answered by the happy squeal of his four year old daughter as she raced toward him with a grin. "Daddy!!!!"

"Oh!" Adam said, grinning when he saw her. "Hey Aida!" He said happily, kneeling and holding his arms out to her.

Aida wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "Hi daddy!"

Adam hugged Aida close, kissing her head. "How's my little girl's day been huh?" He asked. "What have you been up to...?"

Aida just grinned widely. That same 'I'm totally and completely not up to anything' grin she got from her father.

Adam stared at Aida, a blank look on his face when he recognised the one on hers. "What are you up to....?" Adam asked slowly, suspicious.

"Nothing daddy......." said Aida sweetly.

"Yes there is something..." Adam said, staring to worry. "W-What is it....?"

Aida grabbed Adam's hand and tugged on it. "C'mon, me and mama will show ya!"

"Uh...okay..." Adam said slowly, standing to follow.

Aida hurried down the foyer, heading toward the living room. "Mama! Mama! Daddy's home!" Sammy chuckled softly, "I can see that," she said, standing up from the couch to greet her husband. "Hey baby."

"Hey!" Adam said happily when he saw Sammy, going over to hug her.

Sammy wrapped her arms around him. "How was the show?"

"As good as it always is with me in it." Adam chuckled, kissing her cheek.

Sammy chuckled. "That's good, I hope you're not too tired though..."

"W-why...?" Adam asked, worried again.

"Bear, relax," said Sammy gently. "Our little princess has decided she wants to play a game, and she wants us all to play too."

"Oh..." Adam said, smiling as he relaxed.

"See?" said Sammy. "Nothing bad I promise."

Adam nodded, smiling as he looked down at Aida. "What game is it...?"

Aida looked at Sammy to help her explain what they'd planned. "She has a plan on how all this is gonna work," Sammy explained. Aida nodded. "Mama's gonna be your mama, you're as widdle as I am and you's sick," Aida began. "You don't wants to go to the doctor though, you's scared, but Mama makes ya and you comes sees me."

Sammy nodded. "Different places in the house are different places either at home or the doctor's office. " Sammy continued. "Our room is your bedroom, the couch is the car, the kitchen is the waiting room, and the guest bedroom is the doctor's office," Jeff said.

Aida nodded happily. "Me and Mama already picked what's wrong with you too," Hailey said, handing the colored index cards to Sammy.

Sammy nodded, reading from them. "The fever is a given, but other than that you have.......a sore throat......a cough......and a stomachache," Sammy said.

"Lee-Lee and Mo are gonna play too," Aida added. "Mo's gonna be your big brother, Lee-Lee's your daddy."

Adam stared at them, a confused look on his face, surprised that they'd planned it all out. "Oh..." He said, blinking. "But I hate the doctors..."

"Please daddy......" Aida pouted cutely. "There's candy...." she added.
